FAQs

Q. What material do you use?

Our skirting boards and architraves are available in three material options: Moisture Resistant (MR) MDF, Oak and Pine.

MR MDF
Our MDF products are manufactured using premium FSC® certified Moisture Resistant (MR) MDF as standard. This is a higher-density board than standard MDF, sometimes referred to as HDF, which provides a smoother, more consistent finish. We offer both primed and unfinished MDF options.

Oak
Our Oak skirting boards are manufactured primarily from FSC® certified American White Oak. This durable hardwood has a beautiful natural grain and is ideal for staining, oiling or leaving with a clear finish.

Pine
Our Pine skirting boards are manufactured from FSC® certified high-quality softwood, often referred to as spruce within the timber industry. Pine is a cost-effective choice that's ideal for painting or finishing to your preference.

If you choose one of our unfinished products, please note that light sanding may be required before decorating to remove any minor handling or machining marks and achieve the best possible finish.

Q. What's the difference between Primed and Primed & Undercoated?

We offer two paint-ready finishes on our MDF skirting boards and architraves: Primed and Primed & Undercoated.

Primed
Our Primed products receive a high-quality primer that's ready for a light sand before applying your chosen top coat. This is the ideal option if you're happy to carry out the final preparation yourself before painting.

Primed & Undercoated
Our Primed & Undercoated products go through the same priming process but then receive an additional light sanding and a coat of undercoat. This creates an even smoother finish and means the product is ready for you to apply your chosen top coat, helping to reduce installation and decorating time.

Why choose our primed finishes?

Unlike traditional spray painting, we use an advanced vacuum coating process to apply our finishes. This provides a much more even and consistent coating across the entire product.

Our vacuum coating process also coats the back of the board, which not only helps to protect the material but also provides a better surface for adhesives when fitting your skirting boards or architraves.

Q. Can I have my order delivered on a specific day?

Yes. If you'd like your order delivered on a specific day, we can arrange a nominated delivery date to suit you.

Simply get in touch with our friendly Sales Team by calling 0333 366 0082 or emailing sales@myskirtingboards.co.uk, and we'll be happy to help arrange a delivery date that works for you.

Q. How will my order be delivered?

We have many years of experience delivering skirting boards and architraves safely across the UK. Every order is carefully packaged using protective materials that have been specifically designed for transporting long and bulky items.

We work with trusted delivery partners to ensure your order arrives in excellent condition and ready to install. While we take every precaution to protect your goods in transit, we recommend inspecting your order upon delivery and contacting us as soon as possible if you notice any damage or issues.

Q. What should I use to fit my skirting board?

There are several ways to fit skirting boards, but we recommend using a high-quality grab adhesive for most installations. This provides a strong, reliable bond and is suitable for the majority of walls.

For the best results, make sure the wall surface is clean, dry and free from dust before installation.

Q. Can you make a specific skirting board pattern?

Yes. Our in-house tooling department can match existing skirting board and architrave profiles or create completely bespoke designs.

If you're looking to replicate an existing profile or have a custom design in mind, simply get in touch with our knowledgeable Sales Team. They'll be happy to discuss your requirements and guide you through the process.

You can contact us on 0333 366 0082 or email sales@myskirtingboards.co.uk.

Q. What is the minimum order value?

A. We do have a minimum order value of £80 (inc VAT) before delivery.

Q. Can I add to an order once it has been processed?

Yes, as long as your order has not been dispatched, we may be able to amend it or add additional items.

If you need to make any changes, please contact our Sales Team as soon as possible by calling 0333 366 0082 or emailing sales@myskirtingboards.co.uk . Our team will be happy to advise you and do their best to accommodate your request.

If your order has already been dispatched, it can no longer be amended. Any additional items will need to be placed as a separate order.

Q. Will my boards look the same as the images displayed ?

Our product images and 3D previews are intended to give you an accurate representation of the profile, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

Most profiles are displayed on a standard-sized board (please check the individual product description for the exact size used, as this can vary depending on the profile). The profile itself does not change, but if you choose a taller board, there will be more flat space above the profile. Likewise, on a shorter board, the profile will take up more of the board's face.

All website images are shown with a primed finish. Priming is an optional extra that can be selected when placing your order. If you choose an unprimed product, it will arrive in its natural raw MDF or timber finish, ready for preparation and painting.

Q. When does my lead time start?

Your lead time begins once your order has been processed.

Standard Delivery: Orders placed before 12:00pm (midday) will be processed the same working day. Orders placed after 12:00pm will be processed on the next working day.

Express & Next Working Day Delivery: Orders must be placed before 10:00am to be processed the same working day. Orders placed after 10:00am will be processed on the next working day.

Please note that your processing day does not form part of the quoted lead time. For example, if you place a Standard Delivery order before 12:00pm on Monday with a 5–7 working day lead time, Monday is your processing day and your lead time begins on Tuesday.

Ordering before the relevant cut-off time can make a difference of one working day to your estimated delivery date.
